Spruce Mountain (Corinth) 1/1/17

I hiked Spruce Mountain this morning. Conditions were outstanding. I broke trail through about 4-6 inches of new snow that fell overnight. The new trail is very well graded for winter conditions. Parking at the bottom was no problem, there were no cars or snowmobile trailers when I arrived. Trail is well marked, but the sign at the trailhead is now missing. There is a very good base of snow in this area and the trail is well packed/easy to follow.

Nice day for a walk!

I can't believe I live 30 min. away and haven't been there yet.

Spruce really is a gem in the south-eastern ADKS.
A very nice trail in all four seasons now.
A great beginning trail for youngsters and oldsters.

We hiked Spruce one New Years Day and near the top at a good overlook there were chairs made out of piles of snow where people the night before had watched the fireworks over the city of Saratoga.

I hiked up to the firetower last June. The cab at the top had several bullet holes and it looked like a large caliber. This must have been disheartening for all the people who worked so hard on this fire tower; it hadn't been open that long at all.

Those bullets holes made me pretty sad. Spruce is such a nice tower why not just go shoot something else?
