Website security

When I visit this website, it shows that the "Connection is not secure". I don't see that message very often at other websites. What does that mean for users like us?

I get that message ever since I updated my operating system in February. I get it on any website that is http and not https. I think it has to do with encryption, or something like that. I would personally only worry about it if it was a site where I was entering things like payment information, SSN, or things like that. I am not a computer person so this is just my ignorant opinion.

That makes sense, as many more sites have gone to using the secure (https) beginning, but as you say it's not like anything being posted here is something that people would be worried about.

I don't get that message, but then again this is an older system and browser, so that's probably why.

Edit: Confirmed that by opening this post in a newer browser and it in fact shows that not secure in the bar before the address of the site/post.

When you change the "http://" to "https://" in the url, the warning goes away.

I agree that there's not a whole lot on this site that could probably be considered "sensitive." However, there's probably (unfortunately) no shortage of users who use the same login/password here as on a host of other sites, which is a huge internet security no-no.

As DSettahr pointed out, we do have a valid SSL certificate for the site. We were missing the piece where if you came to the site at http://adkforum.com it was not automatically redirecting you to the https:// version. That should be fixed now, and you should see the connection as secure now, regardless of which protocol you accessed the site with.

The Hyper text protocol does end with "s" however my PC claims that only secure information is shown. Often I cannot even access this site.
