Here's the story. Was awoke to pouring rain at 0500 Sunday morning. Told the two guys I was with that there wasn't any hurry getting out there. So I cooked up some bacon, eggs and home fries. Cleaned up from breakfast and by 0700 the rain had let up. It was now a steady drizzle. Which was perfect not enough to get soaked yet the rain was noisier than walking through the woods. we left camp just after 0700. One guy went to the right, one behind camp and I went to the left. I hadn't been gone 15minutes when I spotted a deer its got horns the gun came to my shoulder the safety went off, the cross hairs behind it's shoulder POW!!! When the smoke cleared the deer was gone and I couldn't tell which direction it went. I went over to where the deer stood no hair, no blood. I looked to the right saw nothing and went back to the left in the direction the deer was standing went about 20 yards and I looked ahead about 10 yards there laid a big brown hump. Called my buddies on the radio for help. Walked over to the deer to find it was a 10pter.
The gun is a 45cal Black Diamond stainless steel camo Thompson Center with a 3X9 Burris scope.

Where did you have camp set up? Looks like a State Campground bath house in the backround?

Don`t blame you Wellsley for your last reply..and,thanks for sharing your story and the great deer picture!!...I went out today, but saw nothing but red squirrels and pileated woodpeckers..still ,always, nice to be in the Adk`s. though, just the same, can`t beat it in the southern zone..!!
