Recent reported fatality ...

Can anyone shed light on the recently reported death of a Glens Falls area, man in the High Peaks. Any link on Adirondack Explorer or Almanack is blocked if one is not a subscriber to the Post Star. thank you

Here's an update from the Daily Enterprise. They also had a story about it yesterday, I think, or the day before.

Very sad. Might have something to do with dehydration. Just a guess.

He was an acquaintance of mine. Very sad. He was an experienced hiker, including in winter, always well prepared.

Dehydration wouldn't surprise me. But even if that's not what it was, it's a good reminder. I think you think more about it in the summer when it's 70 or 80 degrees and maybe it's easier to forget on a longer hike in the winter.
