Scarface in the springtime weather

A photo cannot replace being there... The wind in your face, the smell of balsam pine, the chickadees voicing their concern over our presence... Just below the summit of Scarface Mt today we had one of those scenic moments that we will never forget! Amazing! Fifty degrees and not enough snow to fill a bushel on the entire mountain!

Scarface's summit has a view???

I think I know the spot you're talking about (it's at Scarface's western end). As you already know, Scarface's official summit is at its eastern end and is completely wooded.

BTW, nice pic! I can see the outline of Sawtooth #2, Seymour, Sawtooth #4, Ampersand, etc.

"just" too tired

Perhaps the word "just" below the summit was a stretch! We were on the rock ledge at the western end but the summit did not seem that far away to us. The ADK trail book (newest version) identified the white marker as the summit with the "...actual summit still .3 miles farther on a vague trail." There was a vague trail leading away from this placarded spot but we elected to stop here. I drove an 11:00pm-2:00am ambulance squad run that morning to GF and we got a late start on the day. Thanks for ID-ing the peaks in the view! We were going to look at a map when we got home to do that but just too tired!
