Black Mtn 7/23/17
Beautiful day for a hike yesterday, #8 for me and #7 for my wife. Black is definitely a great hike for those who are in between the beginner and moderate hiker, a lengthier hike with a gradual incline, nothing too difficult. We got there relatively early so the trail head only had a few cars, even when we finished there was still plenty of parking for a beautiful Sunday.

The guidebook I have is dated 2001 and indicates this tower is in need of repair. Does anyone know what the current status is? Has it been restored?

I was up there in 2010, while doing my fire tower run. The tower was extended in height to support communication equipment and is surrounded by a fence. There was a wind turbine powering it. So I would say it's well taken care of.
