Wilderness First Aid
Just got my Wilderness First Aid Certification from Wilderness safety council.
so if you have a broken leg/femur, or any other injury and see me coming to the rescue, RUN!!!!! ![]() not sure who has WFA or is familiar with it but wow, not what i expected, what a deceiving title to begin with, course was long and hard, not your typical first aid course, anyone interested in extending their wilderness first aid knowledge base i highly recommend WFA course. and if anyone has any questions on the course feel free to message me Last edited by Terasec; 12-06-2017 at 01:01 PM.. |

Congrats!!! That's not an easy certification. I did Winter Emergency Care years ago and was surprised at the course depth and breadth.

The National Ski Patrol's WEC program has evolved, and is now called Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) in recognition that Patrollers often work summer events.
OEC is at about the same level as Basic EMT, but with less emphasis on ambulance operations, and more emphasis on cold related injuries and transportation issues from the wilderness. It's a good program. True "Wilderness EMT" programs are focused on treatment of patients who might be days from definitive care. Standard EMT programs assume that the ambulance is already parked right at the scene. OEC is somewhere in the middle of that. |

Yes courses are different
I looked into oec courses but those tend to be 80-100 hr courses Compared to 18 hr wfa course Maybe sometime in the future can devote more time to take a 80-100 hr course For those that do thank you as they dont do it to help themselves they do it to help others And its a great skill set to have |
