2022 Icefishing
Looks like some sustained cold weather coming in and I'm getting itchy to do some ice fishing. Can anyone provide some intel for lakes in the Indian Lake area. Any info appreciated

Small ponds were freezing up a couple weeks ago, but they are mostly trout ponds and illegal to icefish. I saw a few brave souls out on the ice last week on a couple larger lakes, but not sharing where on a public internet forum, sorry.

A woman in Brant Lake has started this petition to regulate bubblers after her grandson's dog drowned. I know of a couple of spots where these things inhibit public access.

I am dying to get out and test a bunch of new gear, just have not had the chance yet. Ended up a lot busier than I expected so far this winter. Hope to get out soon though!

Got skunked fishing lakers last Sunday on Lake George. Hoping to do some jigging early next week, will pass on the weekend crowds.

Yeah I went to Lake George last weekend and caught a 27 inch laker, only one of the day. Lake George can be really hit or miss. Went there today to the same spot and the whole lake is covered in slush and water and snow. I walked 50 yards in 7 inches of that before put my foot through a pressure ridge and turned back to my truck and went home. Just letting you know so you don’t make the same mistake I did today. Hopefully all that freezes solid before next weekend. Glad to hear that people are out there fishing and enjoying winter.

No doubt, amazing how one day you can nail them then the next, nothing. I think this week's above freezing daytime temps aren't going to make things any better.

I feel silly for posting that above now because I went there today and all of the slush was frozen, took a ride last night and it was starting to freeze. Got there this morning and the pressure ridge and slush was completely frozen. Was a good day too, landed 3 lakers that were about 26 inches. One the sun came up the bite shut down for the most part, typical lakers. Lots of guys out today everywhere, Million Dollar and Vets Park were packed to the brim, Silver Bay was too. Good luck if you do fish there this week.

Yeah, I guess I can log yet another ?no show? year for me. I?ll be retired next ice fishing season , so no more excuses!!!
