![]() Anyone willing to share some information? I've been looking up/down the boards, but can't find too much.
Last year, fished both 8th and 7th lake and some ponds we found around the area. Caught NOTHING in the ponds, NOTHING in 8th lake, and did OK at 7th lake, but all very small and I mean small panfish. Really would like to catch some bass, or pike, or LARGER panfish or catfish/bullhead or walleye......You get the point. Any tips/suggestions, even if have to travel away from the campsite at 7th Lake? Thinking about renting a boat this year? Where would you suggest for GOOD FISHING? You can P/M me if don't want on the boards, but really would be nice to share with everyone. Honey Holes up in the ADK are places we only get to visit once or twice a year, so what are chances of me messing up you honey hole??? Thank You to ANYONE and EVERYONE. Have 3 weeks left until take off and hoping to hit a couple spots, based upon your recommendations. |

well, once or twice a year either way dont expect a honey hole to be revealed here.
the lakes and the area that mentioned ARE very productive and offer very good fishing. sometimes its not where you are fishing but the approach to the species you are chasing that is the problem. if you are in that area now, or around this time of year the water temperatures are usually at their summer levels and many of those fish move to cooler water. you would definitely need to rent the boat |

Try Brown Tract Pond for smallies. You'll need a canoe though.

So, to answer a couple questions, I'm thinking about trying to rent a boat somewhere. We come up in a loaded car for tent camping and don't have a hitch or anything to toe a boat or bring a canoe, so going to have to rent a boat?
What about a boat on 4th Lake versus 7th/8th, where I can only get the DEC canoe/row boats |

I believe the 90miler has a carry between 8th and Brown Tract Pond. I'm not sure how far or difficult it is, but I could pretty much guarantee you'll catch bass if you invest the effort. If I can catch 'em anyone can!

Thanks
The Ninety Miler? What is that a store in the area? So this sounds like some nice advice....You're saying this pond is walking distance from 8th lake and has BASS? That would make for a very nice day for me and my girlfriend. Thank YOU!!!

Brown's Tract is a 2.5 mile very winding weedy stream, essentially is the beginning of the Raquette River, flowing into Raquette Lake. It wouldn't be accessible for fishing without a canoe. BT Pond is near the end of the trail, but I'm not sure how accessible it is. BT (the stream) is my favorite section of the 90-miler. ![]()

There are several places on fourth lake to rent a motor boat. 4th lake looks like a good fit for you. There is a variety of types of fish in there. It's a big lake if you decide to rent a boat there asked at the marina for good places to fish. I've fished 4th but not recently. So I'm not much help. If you rent a canoe in 8th there is a shoal midway on the road side that's good for bass.

Go up to Raquette Lake, see the folks at Burke's Marina for a boat rental. They are friends of mine, they'll treat you right. Good bass fishing on that lake, trout, perch also.

I rented from Burke's to get out to Tioga, and I'll concur that they were good to deal with. Prices were fair too. I like Raquette more than the Fulton Chain of Lakes as well. So many nooks and crannies, and less traffic.

raquette is a good choice and I also rented from burkes years ago before I had my own boats. They were reasonable and good to deal with. There is a good variety of fish there as well. I'm glad you had a good experience.
