Another 1000 Acre TR 3/12

After a great morning Spring skiing at West Mt. I grabbed the wife and headed S.First stop was Archers Vly with a new gravel parking lot and handicapped outhouse, the 50 foot hike to the Vly was grueling and muddy. The Vly is more a pond and frozen solid.Back in the car for a mile or so to the P lot on the left with no name,2 minute hike thru the shooting gallery and Skeet range to the vly.Never understand why hunters who love nature leave all their **** in the woods(see pic, except Stripperguy).Up the road a mile or 2 to the gate next to the stream on R,this is the trail to 1000 Acre,15 minute hike into the Toyota and checked out the swamp on both sides of road.We saw scat and tracks but a friend farther in found a huge pile of Moose bones(see pic).Another couple of miles up the road we saw a Forest Perserve and green Ranger sign on the L,nice hiking trail led 5 minutes into a beautiful pond and swamp along the stream to a campsite on the water. We finished the loop by taking the S Shore Rd to Hadley and home, one note was the rocky summits of Jeffers Mt and Mt Anthony we saw crossing the dam at Stewart's Pond.I guess this will be the next outing. pics. Moose bone pics
