sweaty trout

I think I lost a significant amount of body weight to sweating today after hiking 6 miles for these medium sized fish:

Best of all the bugs (Blackflies, mosquitoes) were non entities today and these wild orchids were all over where I launched my boat:

Nice catch. Assuming these are from a pond do the brookies bite like this all summer or does the action taper off then pick up again in the fall? The ADK lake I grew up on my father caught lakers all summer he just had to fish deeper for them but his catch was pretty consistent all summer.

I had a thermometer but didn't take temp. I swam in Blue mt lake saturday and people have been swimming in the fulton chain all weekend so that should tell you approximately where the temps are. The water in this pond felt pretty warm and I was tempted to jump in.

Bioguide,
Depends on the pond. Some are just turning on now. This one I don't know as i've never fished it during the summer. Generally speaking, you can expect to catch brook trout in deep oligotrophic ponds all summer. There are some ponds that I would only start fishing now. Good luck.

Nice catch...congrats.

The ferns in the last pic caught my eye. They're in almost every pond I fish and work nicely to help keep trout damp and cool for the walk out.
