Whatever pops into my head - it's always something different, tune usually starts running after about 5 minutes of walking.

Is that still the "official" song of the Cavalry" I wonder if the armored regiments play it on parade?

How about playing it over tank mounted speakers? Anyone remember Oddjob played by Donald Sutherland in Kelly's Heroes?

Hawk

Of course there's always "The Caissons go rolling along" (Over Hill, Over Dale, as we hit the dusty trail and those Caissons go rolling along")

That was the "official" army theme song until adapted in 1917 for the Artillery.

Hawk

My fave tune for going into the woods? I Wanna Kill by the Ramones circa 1980.

While driving TO the woods I might be playing something in the Celtic or Classical or Epic genre. Once my car is turned off I would never at any time mask or pollute the beautiful sounds the woods provides for me.

Everyone likes the call of the loon and so do I. But my favorite sound that reminds me I am alone in the deep woods is the song of the White-Throated Sparrow.

Does anyone have delusional disorder AFTER a 15 mile day? I'm always hearing & humming really bad tunes in my mind hiking OUT of the woods..Debbie Gibson's "lost in your eyes" always seems to play over & over & over for the last 2 miles ...ugh

lately, I've been getting songs from kid's tv shows stuck in my head in the woods... it's horrible.

I don't know if it's delusion, but I hear the calls of sirens that seductively lure me to the LPPB to meet my fate.

I agree with hobbitling...I have an I pod in my head...Sometimes I'll just be hiking and a song comes into my head and I'll start singing it or humming it...

Wldrs said it right....you don't need to bring music with you..

I liked "Hawk's" reponse to "birdsong"......what could be better?

I love the mountains & I love music...sometimes nature's overture's are the best.......but then again...I've been tail gate stompin' & listeninn' to Phish or moe & I wonder where ya draw the line..

I love it all......but when I'm in in that backcountry zone all I want to hear is what's there....birds, coyotes, rodents & ghosts...

Everything has its place..my point of view ...if your listening to music going into the woods ....you must be afraid of something...............
