How will they get it there? Sweat, blood, tears, frostbite, and LABATTE BLUE.

You guys are the new example. Please!

I have more pictures of the sickness but tired of screwing around with reszing when lean to's are deteriorating.

Lean2Rescue@twcny.com if you want to work.

Labor is definitely what is needed. Backs are giving out. Wheels are twisted like pipecleaners and wedding rings get broken (just the ring, not the marriage). But it's a satisfaction that only comes with an honest day's work. forevrwyld has given you the email contact.

It's hard labor. I won't argue that. But I wouldn't trade the last couple of years of doing this for anything. The grime, shoveling, carrying 100 pounds of shingles on my back, packing out the old roof, digging up boulders for foundations, ice snow and rain, lakes that freeze while you're in working, the ibuprogen... it's all worth it. We smile at the end of the day and get restless if we don't hear of new work for a few weeks.

If I could only access 2007 and 2008 photos I'd have some dilly of photos to share. These will have to suffice along with forevrwyld's.

What is needed is labor. This stuff gets in by back and muscle. Human mules. When Pete said "there's nothing this group won't do", he meant it.

From a few different trips:
photo 1- something has to hold the lean2 up. Some of the lean-tos have sunk so far the bottom logs don't "breathe" anymore. Rot sets in.
photos 2 & 3 - the pulling gets just a tad more difficult when wheels are no longer round
photos 4 & 5- job done, time to go home, the easy water travel is over, human mules lined up. Only 3 more miles to go.

Scribing upside-down on the top, and right-side up on the bottom is fun

Do you ever have problems with the lean-to being reassembled incorrectly in the woods? That happened with the new lean-to on Peter's Rock on St. Regis- the logs were all reassembled in the wrong order and so there's big spaces between them and the wind blows right through the lean-to.

the key to re-assembling it is to take accurate measurements as you dis-assemble, and label every part. you have to put each part in the same place. you have to make sure it is at the same level, and diagonals have to be the same for it to fit correctly. if you set up a series of strings and drop plumb bobs on the corners you can put it back together just the way it came apart, as long as the strings are level, plumb and square...
