Eastman Lake SMWF 4-28-20

finally figured out how to post pics, aren't you proud of me?

after some helpful hints and a few tries, we finally made to Eastman Lake, coming in from the Kane Mtn FT trailhead. easy 2 mile hour long jaunt to Indian Lake, then a mile bushwhack to Eastman. about an hr to get to Eastman tho. nice open woods, but there are a lot of cliffs to get around.
got to Eastman about where the old camp used to be, found the woodstove and various debris. did a circumnavigation of the lake in a CCW direction. kept an eye out for campsites and stashed boats. no boats but a lot of sites.
this is really 2 separate lakes, divided by a beaver dam and short channel. thick evergreens around the shoreline, but usually there was enough shore to walk right by the water. did go to the lower part and down to the outlet, but didn't do a circumnavigation of the lower part, which i regret now.
lots of birds, including a very vocal pair of seagulls. saw some fresh bear tracks.
the only fire ring i saw was right on shore on rock next to the beaver dam, been a while since someones been there. at the old camp there was some nice spots to camp legally, w/ a nice view of the lake.
coming back i went a bit further west and descended off the plateau that Eastman sits on, lots of cliffs, WF's, and huge erratics, also the remnants of 2 old camps down by the outlet of Indian Lake. the outlet actually disappears under a bunch of boulders, which is a good place to cross an otherwise swampy area.
so a nice quiet spot that's relatively easy to get to, just the thought of lugging a boat up there keeps me from going back right away.

Nice shots! What's the secret to posting pics?

Thanks so much for the TR and pics. It looks like a great outing for man and beast.
