Question After Cascade/Porter?

So Cascade/Porter was great.

What's the next High Peak recommended?

Probably go in a few weeks.

One thing you don't want to do is to get all of the "easy" ones out of the way at the beginning. Save some of them for the end. Maybe push yourself a bit further with mileage for the next one. Hikes that many get after Cascade and Porter would be: Giant/RPR, Big Slide, Tabletop/Phelps, Marcy, Algonquin/Iroquios/Wright. Make sure you have a map and compass and know how to use them. Watch the weather for any that involve river crossings, so you're not hiking in and can't reach your objective. Street/Nye come to mind.

That would certainly represent the polar opposites of the High Peaks.

If your plan is to do all 46 it is never to early to look at coordinating your trips so you don't have to go back to pick up stragglers.

Colden comes to mind as a good second trip. Up to Lake Arnold then down to lake Colden then out through Avy pass. Great views on top and a return through one of the nicest spots in the HPs.

My son and I did a 3 peak in two day adventure. Cascade and Porter on day one, stayed at the campground at the Loj and then Phelps the next day. We didn't consider Tabletop in combination with Phelps, of which I am glad because we were tired after day 2, but he's 9 and I'm not in top condition.
