Lake Placid area taxi to take me back to car after 6 day trip?
Anybody know of a reliable taxi I can arrange to have my wife and I picked up at a trailhead at a specified date and time to take us back to our car in Long Lake or Newcomb, for example? If not, is there anybody here that lives in the area that might want to earn a few bucks doing so? Or do you know someone that might be interested? Planning to hike the western High Peaks section of the NPT next week. This could be useful information for others doing something similar and needing transportation back to their transportation!

Several noted outfitters in the area advertise a shuttle service, but I don't know if they would include going very far afield from normal local routes of regular paddling and parking destinations. You would have to start calling them to find out.

Cloudsplitter Outfitters in Newcomb might be able to do it if they have enough advance notice. I'd also suggest that you leave your car at the end point and have the shuttle drop you at your starting point.. This way, you don't have to worry if you finish earlier or later than planned.

A friend of mine who doesn't drive (so does this sort of thing regularly) was staying at the Loj and took a cab to my house in Elizabethtown. The bill was $100! (She usually takes the same cab to KV to pick up the Adirondack Trailways bus back to NYC). I have another friend in Etown who is an Uber driver, so contact Uber (Uber doesn't let you contact the driver directly).

I agree with Debmonster. Not knocking these guys/gals, but this isn't like the big city when it comes to reliability.
