2019/2020 ice fishing season

Its finally here. I have found some smaller shallower ponds, 15' and less, have about 6 inches of ice. Anything deeper like colby and surrounding waters have JUST locked up. Still wet spots with maybe an inch of ice. I will try and keep everyone up to date on current ice conditions.

Good timing.

Appreciate the update. I was just asking around since I expect the time is near. Looking forward to walking on water soon.

My pleasure guys and gals. I always try to keep everyone in the loop for first ice as well as ice out for trout season. Looks like another week at least for big water. Got few inches of snow on the ponds now and colby developed some wet spots so it is still real thin.

Raquette lake has snow covered ice with some wet spots. Looks like it needs more time.

Sorry, It is an icefishing post, and I know Neal can get sensitive when people "drift off the established trail" of the post!

Good news the snow is gone. But All the big waters are still super thin. Fingers crosses all this standing water will add a quick inch or two.

For anything that was frozen relatively solid this rain / warm weather melting all of the snow should be a positive. Especially since the next couple days aren't supposed to get above freezing!

Yesterday I saw a couple of people walking on Colby, today they were skating on upper and lower Cascade.
