Pillsbury to Cedar Lake

I was wondering if it is practical to portage a hornbeck from Pillsbury Lake to Cedar Lake and how much of that portage would be navigable?

While not going so far as to say it is impossible, it would be very difficult. There are no trails between Pillsbury and Cedar and much of the terrain is boggy and wet. I think it would be easier to just carry in on the cedar lakes trail, I think it is about 4 or 4.5 miles to the dam from the trailhead. This would also be a difficult portage- the initial 1.5 miles along the miami river to the intersection with the french louie trail is all uphill and is brutal enough just carrying a backpack. After that, though, it is relatively flat and easy going to cedar lake. Cedar Lake is a beautiful place to paddle, though, so it might be worth the effort.

It probably could be done, but it would in fact be very difficult!
The old paths between the lakes are in very poor shape, and very hard to follow in sections, and the path to Pillsbury Bay disappears in the flooded marshes between Cedars and Pillsbury Lake.

Thans for your advice.....I think I'll plan that trip for another time. As wet as it's been maybe I could canoe most of it.
