Dix/Elk Lake Parking

Does anyone know where one can park at the Dix/Elk Lake trailhead when the lot is full?

That's the High Peaks trailhead with the most difficult options for "overflow" parking. To my knowledge, when it's full, it's full, and you are out of luck. I think the closest you can park might be along the road outside the "winter gate" which would add a few miles to your walk. I believe Elk Lake Lodge enforces their "no parking" areas fairly firmly inside the gate.

Parking is not allowed anywhere on the Elk Lake road inside their gate at Clear Pond (green house next to the road and bridge over Clear Pond outlet). You can park just before the gate where there is off-road space and a snowplow turnaround (so-called winter parking area). If you park in the road near the trailhead, you are likely to get a ticket from the ranger. I have seen tickets there many times.

The walk is a pleasant 1.8 miles to the summer trailhead.
