Seward Range / Calkins Brook Accessibility

I flew back east to do a hike up the Seward range, but understand there has been heavy rain. I'm curious if Calkins Brook is currently passable? We'd be heading out tomorrow morning so hoping someone might have been in the area recently. Thanks in advance for any help!

Can't speak as to Calkins Brook specifically, but many other streams are running well above normal for this time of year. Right now, the forecast for Saturday is another inch of rain, with another half inch on Sunday. Crossings are probably going to be dicey this weekend.

You could always do the traditional Seward Range trek- S/D/E/D/S.

It's a steep drainage. If there are not recent heavy rains you may be OK. The higher streams tend to go up quickly and then back down just as fast. We did it in wet weather a couple of springs ago. The Calkins Brook crossing was challenging but by no means impossible. Down-climbing the north side of Seward was perhaps more challenging. My first experience down-climbing a waterfall! :-) The hike in and out will be a mud slog.
