Walleye fishing always slows in the late summer, the best bet is to go nocturnal.
The Union Falls impoundment on the Saranac River has a pretty good walleye population...

It's part of the Raquette River chain and it's possible for a walleye to make it up over Buttermilk Falls

I was referring to the overcrowding of trails and peaks, not parking on a busy highway.

A nice day trip would be to motor up the bottom of the rapids and then drift back with the current casting as you go.
Very relaxing, beautiful scenery.
