Porter traverse from Marcy airfield 12/20

The approach to Porter Mt. on the Ridge Trail from the East is not very popular compared to coming up on the Cascade trail. It is much longer, steeper, and has significantly more elevation gain....

Thanks G! I'm now at 36. Some home renovations are taking most of my spare time now, so I don't think I'll finish this year. But I'll certainly continue through the winter.

Gray, Skylight & Marcy 9/20

This was some sort of anniversary hike, as it has now been a year from my hike up Big Slide that rekindled my passion for the Dacks, so I planned a special hike to an oft-favored summit, Skylight.

Cliff & Redfield 8/20

These two mountains are in the middle of the high peaks and far from any trailhead. There are 2 main approaches, one from Adirondack Loj and other from the Upper Works trailhead. I chose the latter...

Santanoni Range 8/3

After hiking the Dix range in a day 3 weeks ago, I vowed to do an easier hike next. Well, that did not pan out since I jumped on the occasion to do the Santanoni range in dry conditions.

Got off...

I had originally planned on hiking to Dix from Route 73, but since I was able to get there on a Monday, I felt it was a good opportunity to get to Elk Lake without having to worry about parking. And...

This was my second trip to the Seward range after going to Seymour in June. At 5:20, I was second to sign the register. I was happy that the preceding hiker had drawn spiderweb duty (but later found...

This was #21 for me (15 of them in the last 9 months), so I get the feeling I'll be back for E, D, S in the near future, perhaps under dryer conditions. I'm also open to doing Seymour again any time!...

For my first ever visit to the Seward range, I decided to attempt Seymour Mountain. I grabbed the second-to-last parking spot and started off at 7am (p.s. when I left, I saw a lot of cars parked on...
