Its been years but I do recall paddling down the short section of stream that parallels the locks. You can scout it first.. I took the locks up.. I was in a 14' kayak and lightly loaded.

Check out special Crocs model
You might consider Crocs - Swiftwater model. Sturdier & far better sole for traction on wet or slippery surfaces than std crocs. See this thread with a few comments from fishermen.

Indian lake remote camping
Have camped here many times late April or May before formal reservations start. Boat launch open, parking available, many free sites - enjoy. Be careful of wind & cold water.

Helinox chair leg
I help avoid my small Helinox chair from sinking by installing a plastic practice golf ball on each leg. A small slit, then force on. They fit into the bag just fine on the legs & stay put.
