Lake George Wild Forest

I'll second Webby's suggestion of the Lake George Wild Forest. You could park at Dacy Clearing, climb Sleeping Beauty, hike on to Bumps Pond and Fishcreek Pond where there are two lentos and good...

Shelving Rock Road

Drove past the turn off from Route 149 yesterday. Big sign said "Shelving Rock Road Closed." There was no info as to where the road was closed but, at the very least, I would guess that the road...

Hi, all -- I have paddled Tully. The "difficult paddle" up the tributary is a piece of cake. We had Hornbecks and got out of the canoes once. There are two impressive waterfalls that you can...

All good suggestions here.

Jabe Pond is definitely worth the trip but the road in can be rough if you have a low clearance vehicle.

Another great canoe/kayak trip would be Lake George/Northwest...

Carry to North Bay

We've done the carry from North Bay to Keese Mill Rd. a couple of times. I do not remember it being hard to follow but you do have to walk up and over a couple of pretty steep eskers. If you are...

Jameison's "Adirondack Canoe Waters: North Flow"

I have to second the suggestion of the Jameison book. It is not fancy, the maps are hand drawn and the descriptions of the various canoe adventures are beautifully written. Read this book and find...

We carried our Hornbecks in to Spruce Lake (not Cedar, which I originally posted in error) when my brother was leanto adopter for Cedar Lake #2. We drive as close to the trailhead as we could (very...
