Is this a splake water? I'm going to lean towards splake, with just a rare, extremely forked tail. Looks like a big fish. I hope you share the photo with a DEC biologist to confirm.

Curious where you saw it. I bush-whacked up Buck Mt. this weekend and was keeping my eyes open for them. Didn't see any. My buddy saw one at his hunting camp on Hogtown Road. Got some good pictures.

Never done it (I'd love to), but I've heard the Beaver River impoundments from Stillwater Res to Crogan are good pike waters, with plenty of camping (and portages) along he way.
