There is definitely a well used campsite at the north end of big pond, not far from the trail, with a side trail to it. But last I was there, I could not find a camp here disk.

Theres really no reason to use the ladders. That trail goes well above the pond, and then you will have to down climb to the pond. The western trail to the pond has no ladders that I can remember.

Unfortunately all the land around the lake and golf course is private. Years ago different route were duscussed here, like from gilmantown road, or from west river road.
