The rod holder is Ram Rod fly rod holder with a Ram Tough Claw small clamp base. You can obviously buy it from ramrod. I purchased mine with the canoe from Hornbeck.

Yes, there's a gap because I had loosened the shoulder stabilizer straps which makes the pack top swing a bit back. With those same straps tightened, the front of the pack and / or the (HDPE)...
