Per DEC website, Trout brook does get stocked. I don't fish but I'm guessing any streams in the Hoffman notch area are too small to have much good fishing.

I swim in the Hudson in or near the gorge at least 2x yr. Never had a problem. I enjoy swimming in the Hudson multiple places S of there too, above Glens Falls. Also, no problem.

Plenty of helpful threads on this already to search for & review. Don't buy one that works only in the Adirondacks. Many free maps at GPS depot.

Its been years but I do recall paddling down the short section of stream that parallels the locks. You can scout it first.. I took the locks up.. I was in a 14' kayak and lightly loaded.

Have camped here many times late April or May before formal reservations start. Boat launch open, parking available, many free sites - enjoy. Be careful of wind & cold water.

Helinox chair leg

I help avoid my small Helinox chair from sinking by installing a plastic practice golf ball on each leg. A small slit, then force on. They fit into the bag just fine on the legs & stay put.

Sounds like a good deal to me. Know that model is old and archaic interface but sensitivity and battery life are above average. I use mine often and it works great with rechargeable AA batteries.

Note that a few campsites on the N shore of LTL are accessible by foot along the gated road. That could be a safety backup. Be prepared for cold & wind.
