Jeter was a great player and ambassador of the sport, but what made me a true fan was the gift baskets!

Your favourite player is usually the one you grew up watching. My favourite Yankee was Bobby Murcer.

Must be why I don't have a favorite player, or understand the adulation being heaped on Jeter.

I'd say he did alright - made it into his Hall of Fame anyway
