I've been on a few hikes with my brother-in-law George (aka..Doodles) and with a little encouragement I've decided to join the Catskill 3500 Club. I finally got my Catskill Canister and I wasted no time deciding which hikes I would do. My first hike was to Panther. I called the group leader Harry ,and he gave me time/place. I thought I knew where I was going but apparently I didn't. I got lost and missed the hike with the group. I went home and explained to my husband (Alex) what happen. I think he felt sorry for me and decide we could hike Panther together. We went to the Big Indian store, got a map and asked which way to the Panther trail. We were told that Fox Hollow trail is the best way up....So that's the way we went. As newbies...we didn't know that Fox Hollow was the long way to Panther, but we did it. The trail was a little over grown with pricker brushes and we climbed a lot of rocks....but for the most part..it was really great.
