Note to self:
After 8 weeks of remodeling, general inactivity, and 10 days of the worst case of the fllu I've ever had, don't hike 14 miles to anywhere
But we did any way. Hit the Loj at 7:30 and off we went. 1 sign in before us. We had already scrapped plans for a long loop to Skylight and Gray when Judy gave me that "just what the hell are you thinking" look at 4:45 AM. After about 5 miles into Marcy I was wondering just what the hell HAD I been thinking. We were both struggling and moving pretty slow. As we passed the Tabletop jct, snow depths increased to about a foot of new snow, The person in front of us was skiing so there wasn't much of a broken trail. It was fluffy stuff though so it wasn't too bad. On we slogged. We were passed by a young lady who had forgotten her snowshoes. She passed us again shortly after, heading back--snow was too deep. As we broke out of the trees Marcy stood before us. It was a snowy day so we had not seen much up to that point, but now that we could see what were suffering for, it gave a well needed boost. The rest of the trip up turned out to be a slow long walk--we were gassed and the quads were starting to cramp up. We could see the skier coming down and he soon zoomed by. As we started up the open face we noticed two guys behind us and they arrived shortly after we hit the plaque. My lungs were taking a beating w/ the cold air so we headed down. We kept a steady pace--certainly not too fast We met 17 more people heading up as we decended--(mostly skiers)--we finished up at 3:45, so we weren't too dissapointed by our time. Actually I was happy just to have finished--lots of vitamin I cured the aching legs overnight. There's lots of snow left above 3500'--a good 4-5 feet of base and 12-18 of brand new. A real pretty day!!

Enough remodeling-- I gotta get back out on a weekly basis.
