    A few more Mountains

After a slow July due mostly to the heat the frustration built up enough to get a push of for August. On Sunday we climbed Hurricane from Crow Mt Clearing a nice climb over moderate terrain to a great summit.

It seems to me this one is very similar to Noonmark with a tad less effort. Beautiful day great views and there were few people on the mountain, just right.

On Tuesday I drove over to Piseco into the den of Redhawk and took the pretty easy hike up to Echo Cliffs. The views were great, the trail wide and clearly defined. No blazing was necessary.

This morning I found one that perhaps Peak_bgr would be interested as I see he is going after everything with a name. How about Balm of Gilead Mt A different kind of name to be certain. It is a 2345' peak in North River just north of Gore Mt. The trail is informal begining at the Garnet Lodge ski Center. The trail only a mile long with a mere 425 foot climb leads to an open ledge on the summit. There are views of Crane, Peaked, Puffer and Blue Mt to name a few as well as 13th lake below the peak.

The trail is easy to follow though not maintained but I did see one sign that one does not normally see on a trail.

Often wondered what that would be like (Balm of Gilead). Aren't there soem other short trails in that area? Maybe the old mine? I don't have a mpa infront of me, so I could be way off.

    Funky sign.

Yes there are several. One goes to William Blake Pond. There is one to something called the Overlook. The Balm trail utilizes a portion of the Overlook Trail. There is a marked trail going to the hooper mine and there are cross country ski trails all over the place.
