    Whiteface via Connery Pond

Did this hike on Sept 12, and I really enjoyed it. First 4 1/2 miles are a piece of cake, but the last 1 1/2 miles are excellent. Once above treeline you stare up at the top of Whiteface and tell yourself this is going to be fun. I found this trail much more exciting and challenging then Algonquin, Marcy or Haystack. Using hand holds to pull myself up over blocks of granite and avoiding gaps in those blocks so as to avoid breaking a leg made it almost feel like I was "really" climbing. The sounds of Whiteface Brook was a very pleasant companion for a few miles on the trail. I was the only person on the trail that day, and there were very few people on top when I got there. Fog was hanging over the entire area so pictures were not very good. I am no speed demon as it took me four hours to do the six mile hike up.
