    cedar lake day hike 8/27

Beautiful day for a hike into Cedar Lake ... nice breeze across the lake made it very comfortable to lay in the sun for a couple hours on the rocks.

The water is a bit lower than my last visit in early June ... so much so that we were able to find quite a bit of old metal chain, pottery, and bottles along the exposed shoreline.

We also visited the small building along the NP trail (with the roof missing) ... noticed that the iron beams that have fallen down from the roof (or ceiling?) are actually rails from a railroad line! wonder where they came from ...

During a recent hike we saw tons of pottery along the shoreline too. Unfortunately time has broken it to bits.

BTW, apologies for forgetting' to invite you on our last trip to cedar lakes . We remembered on the trail to call you!

we started from the Pillsbury Mtn trailhead ... took us a little under 2 hours to hike in to the first lean-to ... slightly longer to get back because we stopped quite a bit to take pictures.

the "road" into the trailhead has deteriorated a bit in one particular section since my last visit in june ... i don't see how anyone could possibly drive anything but an SUV, pick-up, or suburu into there.
