Northville/placid Trail

im planning to finish the trail this yr leaving aug 8, last yr i started at tarbell rd and went north to placid, i plan to finish going north to south this time, has anybody done that section of trail lately, do i have to get permission to cross mccans property? if so does anybody know how to go about getting permission. are there any bad or good sections i should llok for?

If you are thur hiking you do not need permission.

I was on the benson/mud lake end of the trail today and it is pretty dry.. well dry for that area anyway.

I was back in the same area today and it's very dry. I saw 12 people on the trails which is about 10 more then I normally see on any given weekend. One guy was just heading out for a 8 day thru-hike to placid.I'm planning on doing the thru-hike Aug 11-14(or 15th) with my brother in law.

maybe we will run into you depending on where you start , if you start in benson we will probably see you , we are going n. to s. starting at long lake , plan to finish sat or sun, not in abig hurry,im on vacation

RC, 20-25 miles a day??? whoofa or are the dates you posted start dates?/

sara and i are starting the trail aug 18th. and ending aug 28th.. we plan on some bigger days upfront but towards the end we plan to take some time through the cold river area....

seems like a lot of people will be on the trail at that point... should be some good fun..

Those are the trip dates. We are planning 4 or 5 days so we need to do 25-30 each day. We are looking at 12 hours of hiking a day. It should be an adventure to remember..or maybe one we wish we could forget.
