    Adirondack Rock, new guidebook

The new rock climbing guidebook will be available March 28. It can be purchased here.

There are some cool goodies on the site -- topos, photo gallery, and cliff gallery.

You can also see every cliff in the park here.

Wow, that is a really extensive collection of crags, cliffs, and routes.

Excellent job. How long did it take to research all those? I'll guess 5 years or so?

Jeremy and I worked for exactly two years. I worked full time, and Jeremy also worked full when he wasn't teaching.

Jim, wish our schedules had meshed once, but there is of course, the upcoming season, keep me in mind.
Thinking back over these last couple years, I've spoken on the phone for a couple hours with one or the other of you, emailed back and forth dozens of times, and Jeremy wandered Crane, Hayes, and Gull Pond with me (including one time he had to wait for me to crawl off the mountain when I tore my peroneal tendon!). You guys have spent a lot of overtime in the past two years accomplishing this. Congrats!

getting this book really made this dark and dreary day in Plattsburgh much brighter
much better than i ever thought it could be. its right on par with the best guide books in the world. I've already got my maps out to plan some trips.

Yeah, it's not only the best Adk guidebook ever (no insults meant to Mellor, Rosecrans, or Healy), it is one of the best guidebooks of any place ever. Of course, I still can't figure out why Jeremy and Jim chose that girl's picture over mine for the cover!

                      Adirondack Rock

A well researched, well written tome. Durable construction - high gloss paper should hold up to the abuse we climbers give it. Lots of new information: places, routes, & access. Topos are superb. Great Job!

Can't wait for a weekend to put it to use.

I don't know about that. I saw Jclimbs copy this past week and he already had a big crease in the cover.

Val and I have a copy and looked it over last week when it arrived. REALLY awesome book, and it's opened up a whole new world for us newbie rock climbers that was previously slammed shut.

Jay, we're ready when you are .

BTW, when do the easier routes around, say, Cascade lakes or Chapel Pond become climbable in the Spring? We'll probably be top roping to start (unless someone we're with feels daring), so if you have specific suggestions those would be welcome too.

The approach is prob snow still but the rock should be climbable and no bugs yet.

North country club crack is a good TR (you can hike up and around to set the anchor.
King Phillips spring also has easy to set moderate TRs available as well.

Thanks a bunch, we'll add those to our "not so distant future" agenda.
