I finally broke down and bought a Vermont Canoe Tupper. I purchased it from Anne and Rob at Raquette River Outfitters in Tupper Lake (great people). The boat is a little tippy so I can see an inexperienced person not feeling too comfortable in it. (Rob told me he may come up with a newer design to address this.) The boat is fast and is a blast to paddle. I also found it very comfortable. It handles great in the wind and my 50 lb daughter and me (180lb) were fine in the boat. Like a dope I bought towards the end of my annual 2 week trip to the St Regis Canoe area so I had only a few days to play with my toy. I have not seen one in use before (just the usual Hornbecks and Palcids) so I was wondering if there are many owners out there. I live in new Jerset so I will be doing alot of paddling in the Raritan Canal and the Delaware. I my just take a fall trip back up to get more water time in. I can't wait for next summer - too many ponds, not enough vacation time!

Thanks Rich. To make a long story short, wife says she is NOT opposed to separate(but equal) canoes. I'm beside myself excited. We will be @ Durant and participate in the mile square deal-AND-be auditioning boats. I've paddled our tandy solo...but never a solo boat. I am scouring this board for reviews and suggestions. I suppose we will be going to mountianman for to paddle. This opens another entirely new door for us old peeps to get out where we haven't been yet."a hotdog at the park is way better than roast beef at the ritz" ... humphrey bogart -
Carlie Wilson has a spreadsheet with all the available boats (thanks Charlie). He has over 13 boats listed so check them all out. He has also had some very informative posts. My wife says she wants her own boat too so i'll be shppiong again next year.
"I have a comparative spec sheet on every available pack canoe that I'll gladly forward to any interested parties. You'll need to email charliewilson610@adelphia.net, as I cannot seem to attach files to emails through this site."Comment

I was drooling over your boat earlier in the summer ........
after I did the raquette river from long lake to tupper lake
I started looking at different (meaning lighter) boats,
that portage at the falls was something else!
