    Ledge Pond Anyone?

Has anyone made it up to Ledge Pond from Long Pond? If so, how was it? Also, was the trip worth it? I'll be going up at the end of August. Thanks.

    Yes, excellent, definitely.

Can you describe the trip (how long, difficulty, length of portage, etc.). I tried to get to it about 7 years ago but did not get far up the channel. thanks.

Everything you ask is highly dependent on water level through and above Pink Pond (there are also other lesser traveled ways to get there), extent of recent beaver activity, and your determination to experience the joy of going where not so many others bother to go. Could be lots of weeds, wood debris, mud, and beaver dams, or it could be an easy carry and paddle with a small pack boat. I haven't been there in a couple of years and those conditions can quickly change from season to season. But hey, that's why we go there, no? Take your time and enjoy the trip. That's what I do. I didn't think it was very long or difficult, but I often make those kind of trips and I have no basis to compare your tolerance for a little work. Apart from that it's up to you.

          richard p,
You must have been reading my mind!! I've been thinking of trying to get up to Ledge Pond as well while I'm camped at Rollins Pond in August. It may depend on whether or not I can convince my wife that the attempt might be worth the effort.

We may run into each other then. I'll be at Rollins the last two weeks of August. I am hoping to get up into Ledge with my 10 year old daughter in a couple of Nesmucks rented from SRCO. I am also hoping to hilke up Long Pond mountain with my wife and 4 year old daughter.
