Northern Adirondack whitewater boaters

Allright....All this warm weather is making me want to kayak. The problem is, I've been out of the scene for about 4 years and all my boating buddies are gone.

Now I probably wont be going for at least 5-6 weeks but, are there many upstate whitewater paddlers on this site? I am very familiar with most of the local water but it's been awhile.

I want to get back into it too. I sold my kayak though! I've been out of the sport for 8 years due to illness. I want to get back into it this summer and will for sure need kayaking buddies! Keep me on your list!!! I'll have to start at class 2 again. Ack! Need to find the local rivers and runs. put ins and take outs, is there a good ADK guide to Whitewater kayaking out there????

Sacandaga is supposed to be great too! I'll come up north too, all the time. let's go!

You are lucky to be so close to the Sacandaga. Mettawee is close too, although it's a little more than class 2. It's something to work toward. I'll definitely keep you in mind. My buddy has a few boats that he wants to sell. I can't remember what they are though.

The Dennis Squires book looks pretty good. I cant remember the name of it.

Brings back memories of 30 years ago on the Salmon River from Altmar to the Black hole...One of my college buddies was an aspiring olympic paddler and he took me playing every Saturday all summer!And those fire dept. Chicken BBQ picnics at Pulaski with the tube parade on the river...

Thanks Mike. I have been cheaking that out. I'm not a member yet though. That site is kind of ticking me off right now. All the Bulls Bridge and other New England paddle talk makes me jelous(sp?)! I guess they can boat most of the winter down there. I told myself that I would not get into paddling like I use to. I don't feel like driving all over the northeast to boat anymore. I am going to try to be a "when the water is up" boater.It was fun though.

Chairrock: I've been thinking of the Salmon too. That would be a great river to start with. I suspect that a few class 2/3 runs and I'll be back into it.

Thanks boys, but I doubt if this fat guy would fit in a kayak at this weight!
But I guess it is like riding a bike!Maybe this summer!How much voulume does that WW OC-1 have? I need alot!

It's OC-1, right? It doesn't ALL have to fit in the boat!

Just kidding, I feel your pain. Last year I lost 40 pounds that I gained from unhealthy living associated with my busy career. I thought I'd never fit in my boat again.

I'm feeling great now though.
