    Paddling info request.

The recent post by Robin peaked my interest. I have never tripped in the ADK's but I have done many in Canada (longest = 17 days). What I would like to do is a 4-7 day trip combining canoeing or kayaking , bushwhacking (without the canoe!) and peakbagging.

I'm sure there are books and websites with suggested routes and loops but I figure right here is the best place to begin my research.

This would take place in early August and I would have to rent everything.

That is great!Good luck! There are a bunch of threads on the Oswegatchie River,Cranberry Lake, Lows Lake,Hitchens Pond, And Little Tupper Lake areas that might meet your needs, I am sure you have seen them. Alas I don't know about any peaks in those areas...I am sure manywill have something to add.

You could always paddle the Raquette and do something like the Sewards from Long Lake like Covlin did.
A man needs to believe in something. I believe I'll go hiking.

You could also do the traditional Saranac Lakes - St Regis Canoe area . Hike up Ampersand Mtn from Middle Saranac, and then back in the St. Regis area, several bushwhacks are possible - Long Pond Mtn and St Regis Mtn from the lean to on Fish Pond.
