    Next Trip Advice

Last August did a 5-day trip to Bog River Flow to Lows Lake. Magical. Perfect weather, used site 17 as our base, ventured to Grass Pond and environs. Felt like we had the place to ourselves and caught 75 bass on the trip, maybe 100. Question: I am tempted to go back and do same trip because there’s still parts of Lows we didn’t explore (mostly southwest portion). But my son wants to try something new.

So, if you had to recommend one bucket-list multi-day paddle that has same wilderness back-country feel and a shot at good bass fishing, what would it be? (Maybe Lake Lila next door?)

We can handle moderate portages but nothing too taxing. Sharing a Kevlar 17’ canoe.

Lila surely has it all...short carry, Frederica Mt trail, Harrington Brook paddling, some Beaver River paddling, great natural beaches. But everyone else knows that too, it can get busy in full season.
Little Tupper has many sites, again really nice natural beaches, along with many paddling excursions to keep you occupied. But it can really get frothy with not that much wind.
Long Pond has a short carry, some fun interconnected waters, and the trail up Long Pond Mt, mostly sheltered water, nice if it's windy. Also easy access to the new hike/bike trail.
An underutilized area, IMHO, is the Essex Chain Lakes, and the not to be missed paddle down the Chain Drain to the Rock River.

Basically, just throw a dart at the map...
I don't fish, but I've heard that all those spots are pretty good fishing.

Forked Lake is pretty nice as well as the ones Stripperguy mentioned. Not alot of sites on Forked but to the left of the boat launch on the northern shore is a couple of nice sites. Lots of fishing there and not a ton of traffic. Power boats are on that lake but wasn't crazy.
