Nice little Program with a bug or two !!!
When you are dealing with a few hunderd tracks and 600 or 700 markers on one map it makes you want to
The thing I don't like about terrain navigator is the way it handles tracks and routes and the like. It's the reason I give NG Topo the edge!

Are you talking about the trail that comes out to rte 10 along the North Vly? Or did you really mean rte 8?

Redhawk, I have not used the NG map program so I really have no experience with it. I'll be doning updates to my 6.04 Version of TN hopefully this next week.
The thing I don't like about it is that when you have to delete 600 markers you have to do them manually or since before last May you did. That is a bunch of clicking!!!! Oh then upload the same set of markers by accident just 30 seconds after you finish deleting the first batch..... LMBO It makes you feel pretty STUPID fast!

One idea to just a sporatic few people doing this trip is to actually plan in one day different people from the forum who actually paddle segments of this trip. Then, when time permits having everyone download all their photos into one database for everyone who participated to enjoy and have for the future.

You're right. I put in the wrong route number. I've changed it.

AH- You should be able to check the "delete all" setting in your general config tab.

                "program"

I am curious what programyou are using? I posted on the high peaks site a question on how to get info on routes. I seem to be using several sources and it's cumbersome. I tried trails.com but sheesh....

This sounds like a great trip. I'll be retired someday.
Hmmm, I wonder....maybe some fall. Talk about digging up an old thread!!!
If anyone is serious about this trip and needs a map let me know. For a small fee due to time + materials, I will send you a printed map of this entire route. I'll laminate it for a little extra.
This seems like a great canoe/kayak route!!

Hi northwoods_woman, and welcome to the forum! I saw your post on Adkhighpeaks as well. This doesn't answer your question, but here is one review of trails.com.

As redhawk said (on Adkhighpeaks), some of the best information can be found on Adkforum, Adkhighpeaks, and I'll add VFTT. I've never felt a need to subscribe to trails.com or other paid sites, but would be interested to hear other views on this.

                    info...

What is VFTT? I can google it but I wanted to say thanks for the advise. I think no matter what one does, it takes some time to think out the trip in terms of carries or loops or shuttling which is harder when you are solo. But heck, that is part of the fun of it, right? Does anyone every post a request for a shuttle on here? I might be able to plan a trip based on knowing someone else's plans. Would just mean a short (hopefully) ride back to my boat. from their trailhead. Ya know what I mean?

Sorry, VFTT = Views From The Top. Feel free to post about a shuttle.

Hawk, did you draw a route in Topo based on the OP's itinerary?

I just ran through it placing waypoints in topo at the main turns and highlights. Interesting trip and it gives you an idea of what size of waterway is navigable.

A little too close to roads and civilization but a great route all the same.

I plotted it on Delorme's Topo USA that I have. I can export the file if someone wants it. 75 miles

Another option to the Cedar River portion of the route (that seems iffy for me with my Hornbeck and limited WW skills) would be to cross the Cedar and go towards Unknown Pond and make your way through some flooded lands, back to the Cedar. Aerial Photos show some open water that way. Recon, as always would be a good idea.

Having said that, after being involved in a search in that area last year, the blowdown is gawd awful in spots.
