Henderson Lake camping info

I've heard a lot of good things about Henderson Lake on this forum, but it's unclear whether there are any good campsites on it. Does anyone have any info on any established sites there? Ideally, a nice private site with a sandy beach.

There is a lean-to that was built last year. No Sandy Beach. There are also places to pitch a tent but not near the water. And no public sites in the Dacks are private. Lean tos must be shared up to capacities.

Is henderson the lake near Duck Hole? I recall a waterfall on the far side of duckhole, and was informed that it came from Henderson?

I remember somebody ( lamberzac ? ) posted about a transfer of lands to State possession - at Henderson Lake - Duck hole area ( including both ponds ) . He also shown project maps about it . I could not find .
Does anybody know , how it's going ?

Slightly off topic, but if you want a sandy beach, try the north end of Tirrell Pond.

No it comes from the Lower Preston Pond. Henderson is significently lower then Duck Hole.

The new lean-to on Henderson is very nice. Cold River Bob and I used it on our way out from Duck Hole last October. It's about a 1/2 hour paddle from the launch at the Works.
If you park at the Works parking area, you take about a 5-8 min portage to the lake. the best beach, and swimming is right at the launch site. If you paddle out of the bay where you launch you turn right and head north up the lake. There is a stream that flows into the lake on the north west shore, and the lean-to is just up the hill from there. Here's a link;

"X" marks the spot of the lean-to, and you can see the Works, and the Preston ponds. That gives you a little perspective.

The beach is rocky, but swimming is OK.

Hey guys,
For what it's worth, I paddled and carried from Henderson to Duck Hole (and back) as a day trip with my 15 year old and his buddy. We split up at the carry between Upper and Lower Preston Ponds. My son on the West side, buddy and me on the East, thrashing though the undergrowth. Buddy, while carrying the other half of my canoe, steps down a ledge and I hear a crunch!! I thought at first it was just a stump or some deadfall, but it was actually a guideboat that was stashed under an overhanging slope. The guideboat was slowly soaking into the forest floor. Not much left of it, and it couldn't have been that old...it had screws! Since the carry is really on the west side, I imagine that not too many others have ventured this same path. Anyone else seen this?
And yeah, the outlet of Lower Preston dumps into Duck Hole in dramatic fashion. Definitely worth the effort.
