    Jordan River????

I'm thinking of doing a paddle trip to the Jordan River (Carry Falls Reservoir) in September but I can't seem to find a lot on good information on this river. The information in Jamision's book in rather slim. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance.

Tom, I thought Carry Falls Resevoir was part of the Raquette River.(?)

      fvrwld,
True it is, the Jordan River empties into Carry Falls from the East.

        Jordan R

        Tom:
Here's a copy of my post to NPMB few yrs back. Brian Mann used it for a trip & article he wrote in ADK Explorer. Write if you want more info:

Access to Jordan has improved since NYS acquired more land but is still difficult. Can ascend river from it’s mouth but will encounter 1.3 m raps w/ no carry trails (when last I checked) These would obviously be easier to bump down rather thn line up. (Doing so on my 1st trip caaused me to find this alternative)
        Here’s access I used last 5 trips :
On USGS Carry Falls Reservoir quad locate mouth of Jordan on E shore of reservoir. 4 tiny bays N of mouth also on E shore is a narrow cove. I taken to calling it junk car cove as you’ll see some old abandoned auto/truck hulks on shore there. If res. level is high you can paddle into this cove & land on it’s N shore where there’s an old logging rd/jeep trail kept open by ATV’s. If level’s down carry will be a bit longer. (2 old junkers parked nose to tail where trail enter woods will confirm correct trail) Carry or wheel your boat E on this sandy rd/trail by more junkers. After 20min +/- pass thru open meadow (1/2 way point). STAY TO RIGHT AT EVERY JCT . After 3rd (?) rt turn pass by remnants (now just fields of brambles) of former Stag club camps ( River is just behind these on rt & could launch here but still one more rap upstream. Alternately, the very scenic Tebo falls is 100 yds downriver from flatwater behind former camp locations.)
Few min past former camp sites jeep trail ends @ jct w/ obviously well traveled gravel rd. (Private access) Again, turn rt onto rd & launch into Jordan @ bridge reached in 300 yds.
Total carry from Carry approx 2 m. - 40-45 min as all easy walking on rds.
River above bridge is all flat. Scenery is not. Nice campsite on river right (left headed upstream) @ end of beautiful straight above Jordan L outlet (Childwold quad)
Additional observations : River is not maintained. Expect blowdown. Bugs are fierce in season. Shores / Islands Carry Falls Res offer great camping if you want to day trip Jordan. When drawn down 50 yd wide sand beach surrounds lots of CFR & it’s only lightly used by motorboats.
Can launch @ Parmeter site maintained by Niagara Mohawk/Brascan Power (Small fee to camp there but free day use), Carry dam, or, if time, from short spur rd E off SR 56 to scenic pool below Jamestown Falls on Raquette R
