    OSI buys Marion River carry

    The Marion River carry provides passage for those paddlers traveling between Raquette Lake (Marion River) and Blue Mountain Lake (Eckford Chain), including Day 1 of the Adirondack Canoe Classic, aka "The 90-Miler". This acquisiiton secures public access, and incudes small portions of the Marion River and Utowana Lake shoreline. Great news!

      That is very good news. The future of that carry trail has always been a nervous point. It has long been open for through carry by boat only, but the public is not otherwise allowed down there. Volunteers during the 90, in addition to handing out water and candy bars, they keep the litter picked up and ensure that racers keep to the trail.

          Wow!! Pretty exciting times...Does anyone have a link to a detailed map, especially of Utowana Lake shoreline?

              There still might not be land access to the carry trail, but there is public access to Utawana Lake just down the road.

                      According to the Enterprise article, they paid around $2 million for the 295 acres. That's a lot of money. I wonder what if any implications that might have.
