    Canoe camping - July 4th

I hate holiday weekends for paddling and camping on wilderness lakes. But my son is visiting July 4th weekend and we only have one night during this crazed weekend to paddle to a wilderness site and enjoy a brief outing. Leaving saturday mid-day does not help the cause. Our favorite places would be well avoided and probably every site taken - Little Tupper Lake, Lake Lila, Forked lake, St. Regis Area, Cedar River Flow, etc. Plus my experience is that camping at these otherwise beautiful places on 4th July also means overflowing parking lots, loud boomboxes, 2AM screaming, and fireworks.

Can anyone perhaps suggest (by e-mail perhaps ), a potential less crowded lake, pond, or river site where we might find solitude during this weekend. A one-night stay means a shorter paddle destination, making it tougher to get away from the crowds. Thus, smaller lakes, ponds, beaver ponds, are perhaps the best bet.
