Cheney Pond to Lester Flow(Boreas River)

Looking at the map and satellite images it looks like this may be a possible paddle route. Has anyone ever done this or knows if it is a possiblity. If not...how is the short portage between the two?

this is a great spot... the portage though*.......

    * a pause for dramatic affect.

the portage is nothing.. just paddle towards the beach on the other side of the lake. head to hte left of said beach and heads towards the beaver damn...there should be a worn path around it and then just drag or carry your canoe 10 feet and your in the river....

the river itself can be navigated a couple miles down stream and then you start to come upon more bever damns... i haven't gone any further then that.... yo ucan also paddle up stream towards the bridge but this time you'll come upon some rapids and i think some small falls.

have fun as this is a wonderfull place!!!

I spent the 4th of July at the Lester Dam last year. The Lester dam is out and the paddle to it consists of some bottom scraping and one set of very easy rapids. (not at all the flat water that the maps show) The beaver dams are variable. Some days you can hitch (or hump) your way over, some days you have to get out and portage, depending on the beaver activity. Below the Lester dam I could only go about 300 yds down stream before it gets to rocky.

Let me know if you need any other specifics.

Edited to add: its more like a 75 foot portage from Cheney Pond but the boat can be dragged on the swamp grass.

          Thanks for the info

I envisioned paddling through to a languidly flowing damned flow and being able to paddle back. This doesn't seem to be the case

Must be that the beaver dam from cheney to the boreas has changed...or i just remember it in a different way???

i'm surprised by the lack of trout in there??? with the water soo cool in the summer time i would have guessed that place was teaming...damn
