    Hi Ashton,

Sorry, I had never heard of Hasbroucks. A quick internet search turned up a book (see below) that appears to place the Hasbroucks in with important company:

_____RAQUETTE LAKE A Time to Remember
Ruth Timm. A look at history in that part of Hamilton County. We learn about the more famous people like William West Durant, Adirondack Murray, the Vanderbilts, Inmans, Hasbroucks and Whitneys, as well as the guides, postmen, railroad agents, clerks, clergymen and others who helped mold the community. - ISBN 0-932052-81-9 ; 6 x 9 - 333 pages - 150 Photos - Maps - Index - Cloth - $24.95

See http://www.hopefarm.com/adiron.htm for ordering. I hope it helps.

It is a family name, apparently important at the time. A family of the same name is also prominent in the Catskills (same family?). There is a point on the Raquette River with that name. Other than that, I'm just not familiar enough with the area. Perhaps Redhawk knows something more -- or perhaps Ruth Timms's book will yield more information.

Mr Hasbrouck was a wine merchant who had a camp on the north end of Raquette Lake. The three leantos before the outlet are on the site now. You can still see the fireplace standing and some foundation behind the leantos. Offshore pilings from what must have been a dock can be seen if you dive with a mask.
