    Early morning Brown

Got up at 5:15 and headed out in the driving rain. Stopped for coffee, gas and bagels and got to the river just as the sky was starting to lighten. The water was up a good 8" from my last outing and slightly off color. On the way over I'd been thinking Iso's or Cinnamon Sedges. Conditions said thow some meat for the big boys. I put on a Clouser with a copper body and lots of synthetic in the wing and promptly lost my rig in a tree. Tied on the only other one I had and stripped it through a deep run that sometimes produces. The jolt was so quick and sudden that I didn't react and now some irritated trout has a Clouser lip ornament with a bit of 3X hanking from it. Hope it goes with the tattoos.

I tied on a medium size Bugger with a silver/black head. There's a long glide with 3 rocks at the end. The water's maybe 4 feet deep. I saw the launch and this bad boy grabbed the bugger and headed downstream like he had an urgent appointment elsewhere. It was touch and go coaxing him out of the heavy current. Even in 18" of water he had the upper hand for quite a while. See below. Then I promptly lost my fly to another bruiser...

Very Nice VT...I was up about 6:30am...Seriously thought about it, but changed my mind. I think I missed an opportunity that you took advantage of.

Believe it or not, I lost about a dozen flies Friday, and not on snags.

They are hitting very hard right now.
