A creepy night on the stream

i went fishing last night and had a creepy experience. i was fishing one of my favorite spots and a guy whom i had met before on the stream appeared on the opposite bank. he was extremely chatty. he was literally narrating what the trout were doing and giving me advice on what to do. he stayed in position until darkness started to come in. i noticed he even took a couple pics of me fishing with my dog by my side. i was annoyed, but i didnt think too much of it other than this guy was super friendly and a dork. so it got just about dark and i started to head up the trail to the car. he then proceeded to tell me a story...he said he and his son were fishing up stream from where we were about 200 hundred yards and they saw a silohette of a man that looked to almost be on fire. this 'being' crossed the stream back and forth many times without causing a ripple in the water. so here i am in the dark being followed down the trail by a stranger who's telling me a ghost story. i couldn't help but think i need to be on the defensive. i became totally freaked out. i made it out to my truck and went home. anyone ever had a similar experience with any of the whackos out there? i wish i could carry a concealed pistol because in situations like this you just never know. even if he did see what he claimed, the whole sequence of events up that point made me feel threatened. im still weirded out by this.

Why cant you get a concealed carry permit? That is creepy for sure. I once had a overly friendly fisherman chat me up a couple miles back in the woods on a stream that gets VERY LITTLE fishing pressure. When he first showed up it startled me because I wasnt expecting to see anybody in there. He asked about the fishing and what lures to use. He got too close for my comfort. He was one of those close talker types. Offered me a hit from his flask too. He started fishing along side of me and I couldnt seem to shake him. Finally he ventured across the stream to retrieve his spinner that was snagged on a log. When he turned his back I scrambled up the bank and jogged outta there!

At the risk of Neil asking if I have "an agenda " If you have an unrestricted carry permit you are fully legal to carry in the park concealed. If you have a restricted ( hunting and target ) permit , red squirrel's among others are open year around with a small game license .

That being said There have been a few folks that have not been able to understand the "Private Road" and "Dead End" signs that they drove by on their way to our camp and I'd love have a motion detector that would turn on some speakers with this song playing loud and clear

No, I have`nt run into those kind and hope I never do ...I would get visibly irritated and eventually I would just move out of there or say something I might regret ..I`m sorry to say...but when I fish alone ,thats exactly how I want it to be and the next time you run into someone like that make this point known..at least you had your dog with you..he might`ve helped you alittle...very creepy story he told you and you told us ..guess we all have to watch our backs out there...even on the trails and on the waters...you`re right ,you never know..

Myself, I have run across a few individuals similar to what's been mentioned.

My method iof handling it is to inform them that I'm out there to get away from the a**holes and that means that i don't want to be followed by any either.

That along with a hawk glare usually sends them packing.

Fortunately for me, i'm one of those "scary types"

i was hoping you'd chime in redhawk. i know youve experienced some unexplainable things, but this was weird because of his invasion of my space.

BP- If you ever canonballed into a hole I was fishing w/out me seeing you jump ...you`d be giving me CPR...when I fish alone and everything is so quiet ,just the soft, sounds of the woods,I`m kinda like in a trance or meditated zone, its very relaxing and its like I`m in my own little world...thats why I like fishing or hunting alone ...so, when something of that magnitude you described doing to that strange guy ever happens...you might have a body to haul out of the river ...especially dressed up like a"banana"!!! WoWW!!! That s going alittle overboard,I`m afraid!!! But,love trying to visualize what that would all look like!! Brought a chuckle to me when I read that...
                          Definitely would make the papers..

Freaking hillarious. After a threat like that I now have to stalk you just to see this happen. Heart attack at the worst, pee my pants laughing at the least.

There ARE unnatural entities in the woods and the ones you can see are the most dangerous. The are generally thought to be souls tormented by a troubled past which they cannot rectify, and who were ensnared by spiritual elemental forces (fire, water, earth, or air). That the silhouette appeared to glow, suggests he probably ran into a fire elemental shortly after death (maybe he died near a campfire?).

These unnatural entities usually will not chase after you unless you cross the boundary of their domain (how their domain is determined is not known), but if they catch you, they will terrify you at the least, and physically harm you at the worst.

For peace of mind on future trips, you might want to consider some object which can provide you protection. For $19.95 plus shipping, I can carve for you a special mini-totem which clips onto your belt via a toggle cord. It is charged with the four elemental forces and stengthend by the smoke of copal, sea salt, and other uncommon ingredients. It comes with instructions for use, and an optional leather carrying case is available for $4 more.
